What are the Fees?

Polygon Payments charges a monthly fee of $ 12.50 +GST for each active mobile phone linked to your Merchant Account. There is no setup fee to get started. Local New Zealand payWave cards incur a merchant fee of 2.00% and internationally issued card incur a merchant fee of 3.90%

Who Can Sign Up?

Any business, incorporated society, charity or sole trader in New Zealand can sign up. You will need to complete a simple onboarding process, including identity verification and business details. Issuing of a Tap on Mobile Merchant Facility is at our absolute discretion. Some business types are ineligible based on Scheme rules.

Are My Transactions Secure?

Yes, all transactions are encrypted and processed securely under PCI and EMV mandated security requirements.

What if I Have No Mobile Reception?

Tap on Mobile requires an internet connection to process transactions. If you have no mobile reception, you can connect to Wi-Fi if available. Tap on Mobile does not support offline transactions.

Is My Phone Compatible?

Tap on Mobile works with most modern Android devices with NFC capabilities and Apple iPhones. The minimum software required is Android 12 for Android devices and iOS 16.4 for Apple devices. Check our compatibility list or contact support to confirm if your device is supported.

Can I See My Transactions?

Yes, you can view all your transactions in real-time through the Tap on Mobile app. The dashboard provides detailed reports and analytics.

Am I Able to Refund?

Absolutely. Refunds can be processed directly through the Tap on Mobile app. Just select the transaction you wish to refund and follow the prompts.

Can I Surcharge?

Yes, you can add a surcharge to transactions. However, ensure you comply with surcharging guidelines and clearly inform your customers about the surcharge.

How Do I Send a Receipt?

Receipts can be sent digitally via email directly from the app. Just enter the customer’s details after completing the transaction.

How Quickly Will I Receive My Funds?

Funds are settled into your account the following day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.

Is There a Limit to the Number of Transactions I Can Process?

There is no limit on the number of transactions you can process through Tap on Mobile. You can accept payments as often as you need.

What Types of Cards Can I Accept?

You can accept all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, and EFTPOS cards with payWave. You can also accept payments from customers using their mobile phone wallet or wearables.
